Earlier this year, as we considered the possibility of making a big change in our lives, I awoke in the wee hours and couldn't sleep. The thrill and the terror kept me from peaceful slumber. So I got up, made a cup of tea, and lit the woodstove. I picked up my journal and this poem flowed onto the page.
Standing at the threshold
The edge of the cliff
The bank of the ice cold river
Knowing, feeling
The inevitable and irresistible pull
The longing
Deep within
A force stronger than gravity
Or fear
Or inertia
The necessity of stepping, leaping, diving
Forward
A foregone conclusion
Now simply a question of when
In my heart, I know what
In my bones, I know why
In my soul, when
Now
Simply
Go
~John McConnell, April 2013
What threshold are you standing on the edge of? We'd love to know!
Blessings for a gratitude filled Thanksgiving.
